Erev Shabat

During the Holocaust in Budapest ,We were hiding in a small derelict cellar ,my mother,my grand ma, my aunty and my little cousin .we did not have enough to eat ,not alone have candles fot the Shabat! on erev shabat my grand ma put her shawl on her head, lit two match sticks wich she stuck on to the top of the.. machstick box . zorica 2 years old me 7.we stood near our grand ma who had her eyes shut and with a very solomn expression ,scooped the light from the burning matches and in turn put her hands on our heads ,she quoted: be blessed like Rachel,Rebeca and leah. my oma had to do this very fast,as the matchsticks did mot burne very long. And also no one should see this or it would be the last erev shabat for us all.Sadly not long after ,we had been separated. Shabat shalom to you all my friends…….after the war,we met up with my grandma my aunty and zorica my little cousin in Novi sad.The rest of my Familly on my Fathers side were all sadly killed.
sometimes memorys just appear, some are nice, some are unbearable, this one makes my heart warm and I feel lucky to be alive!!
